According to Anderson K., (n.d.), zombies are everywhere. Their unseeing hordes swarm through American culture, multiplying in our film, our television, our literature, our video games, and even our streets, as people participate in Òzombie runsÓ and zombie flash mobs. Khan, A. (2011), stated that the rise of zombies in pop culture has given credence to the idea that a zombie apocalypse could happen. In such a scenario zombies would take over entire countries, roaming city streets, eating anything living that got in their way. The proliferation of this idea has led many people to wonder “How do I prepare for a zombie apocalypse?”
As you read this comic book or the movie series entitled "The Walking Dead," many people would think how does it feel to be trapped in a scary world full of zombies. Many challenges have arisen, and the main character was able to survive, especially in killing the zombies to escape. Its story brought us to an impossible place and let us realize the importance of choosing the right decisions such as, sacrificing once self or choosing to become one of the zombies because you have no choice (Survival, Leadership and Life Lessons from The Walking Dead, n. d.).
Aside from zombies, there are significant messages in this story. It focuses on the family and teaches us the importance of good relationships. Rick Grimes the main character of the story. He is the husband of Lori, and he has a seven-year-old son named Carl. He is strong and not easily scared of zombies. He will do anything just to find and protect his family. Another thing is the story lets us realize that we should learn to prepare earlier to be safe in any dangerous circumstances that may appear. To use common sense and cooperate with your teammates. One of the conflicts that were illustrated in the story is the betrayal of Shane to Rick. Shane and Lori have a love affair and he was angry and mad because Rick was alive. They were friends, but it was destroyed because of what Shane did to Rick. This kind of issue still exists in today's generation.
In a comic version, the story seems like comedy and funny because some scenes are hilarious like Rick talking to the horse. The story is fun and full of adventures in which the characters are traveling in different places. It shows the value of being faithful to a person like Rick to his wife. All in all, The Walking Dead taught us about the breakdown of society during catastrophic events, public safety and disease control, ways to react in situations such as these, and much more.
